Who Cares? Scotland is a voluntary organisation working with and for children & young people in care. It is unique in only providing advocacy for Scotland’s looked after children and ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard by decision makers.
Founded in 1978 the organisation has strong campaigning roots and has created positive changes in the care system throughout its history.
Who Cares? Scotland is a registered Scottish Charity and Company Limited by guarantee lead by a Board of Directors- 50% of who are young people with experience of being looked after.
All our work is underpinned by the United Conventions on the Rights of the Child.
Over the past two years the charity has undergone major transformation, including a major structural review, re-branding and a complete review of policies, procedures and systems. Today we have 43 members of staff operating in all mainland Scottish Local Authorities. We are committed to working in partnership in Scotland to bring about positive changes for children and young people who are looked after and to ensure that young people have the same rights, opportunities and outcomes as every child in Scotland.
